| - 10/10 would not come back here for any kind of service.
When we walked in, we thought that the place was deserted. There was no one at the counter and it was dead quiet. It wasn't until we walked up to the counter that we noticed a woman sitting in the back with her headphones on concentrating on some box that she was tinkering with. We were about to say "Excuse me" when, still concentrating on the box, she said "What do you guys want?" We told her that we needed to ship something. She kind of gave this sigh like "Well, fuck" then slowly pushed herself out of her chair and walked over to us. She still had both her headphones in. We started telling her what we needed to get done (ship an archery bow to California) while she paced behind the counter. She went over to get the biggest box they had which didn't fit at all. I told her that I had called the Fedex hotline to inquire about how much it would cost to ship the item given the weight and dimensions of the item and what I had to do. I was told by the hotline personnel that it would cost $23 and that all I had to do was take it to the Fedex and that they definitely would have the proper box for it. The woman at the store (her name is Va'Lancia ... no kidding) told me that it would take 2 boxes to fit the item, that each box would cost about $20 and that the shipping cost (not counting the boxes) would be at least $65. ... Way to go Fedex ... Not only did Fedex give me the wrong estimates, this woman at the counter, as we found out, was talking on her phone while she was supposed to be helping us. While she was calculating the cost, she was asking weird questions. When I asked her "I'm sorry, what now?" she responded with "Oh, not you. I'm on the phone."
Isn't that just wonderful? Absolutely horrible customer service.
We did not ship with Fedex. It cost us much less to go through the trouble of going to Home Depot, buying the appropriately-sized PVC pipe, pay the baggage fee, and take it on the plane with us back to Los Angeles. We had to buy a PVC pipe since apparently, there is barely any market in Cleveland anymore for one-piece recurve bows, so none of the archery shops we contacted had any cases for my bow that I had purchased during our visit with family in Corry, PA. We couldn't ship it out earlier either since Corry did not have its own Fedex and we were told that we would be secure in Fedex's promise, so we didn't have to rush finding a shipping solution.
Fedex had promised a much cheaper and much easier alternative but did not deliver. We had to go through all of this crap in the late hours of the day before our 8 am flight back to California.
I've had ugly experiences with Fedex, but I gave them another chance and was just left sorely disappointed.
