| - Walking around the area, actually looking for a different restaurant but when I stopped there, they were out of the one food I wanted to order. So, not knowing where to go I continued to walk aimlessly until coming up to August Henry's Burger Bar. It has a nice exterior. When you walk in, it is a traditional bar and grill.
I was seated right away at a hightop. (It was only me.) The server brought me a menu and I ordered a beer while I looked. I was intrigued by what they called the Gus's Burger. It looked like it would be large, cost almost twice the others on the menu and came with a t-shirt. My first thought was even if I couldn't eat it all, the burger plus the t-shirt was a pretty good deal, and I would go back to Chicago with a souvenir.
Then I saw the burger in a Yelp photo. Nope. It looks like it is about 9 inches tall or perhaps more. Way too much - knowing me, I'd try to eat the whole thing and be sick the rest of the night.
I ended up getting a "build your own" burger and fries. The food arrived very quickly. This was probably easily 1/2 pound burger on a pretzel bun. Standard, it comes with lettuce, tomato, and onions. For extra $$ you can add other toppings. The burger was done exactly as ordered, the vegetables were fresh, the bun very good. And, the fries were hand cut and quite tasty. I should have ordered them crisp (my preference) but they were still very good.
Even though I didn't get to try the one restaurant I wanted to and I leave tomorrow afternoon so won't be able to on this visit, I'm really glad I ended up here. Kudos to the servers and the chef. Great dinner.
