| - I hold a special place in my heart for Switch, as it was my first experience with downtown(ish) Phoenix. ( yeah I haven't lived in the valley of the sun for that long) They were new enough to where they didn't have there liquor license yet on my first go around, but I immediately fell for the place and have gone back several times.
It has some great things going for it that for me at least, outweigh the negatives
The atmosphere is great, very chill and the low lighting makes it a great place for first dates (everyone looks better in the dark!) The crowd generally ranges from your upper 20's and on. Usually more of a metro crowd but you'll see all types in here, which can make the people watching fun, especially if your seated at one of the couches.
The menu has a lot of variety and almost everyone will find something to enjoy. If your with a group of 4 or more, I recommend the fruit/cheese appetizer as it's way to much for 2 people but the selection and presentation is great. Also I know the mac and cheese is pretty highly recommended but it really wasn't my thing, and I generally love comfort food.
They have some great wines in their selection and the drinks like the sangria are usually pretty amazing. But like any place, it can be hit or miss depending on the bartender.
I like the patio, once again it's great for people watching as anyone who parks in the back has to walk through it to get to the restaurant. But calling it a patio is semi generous, as its actually just a back alley with couches, chairs and heaters thrown in it. Still, there is something endearing about it, especially in the spring/fall.
If you go and like it, check out Ticoz and Fez as well, as they are are all owned by the same people and you really can't go wrong with any of them.
