  • I'm limited to public transportation so it can be difficult finding accessible European-style bakeries. I had no trouble getting to this place from the Dalhousie LRT Station; you basically just follow the path and it'll lead you to the strip mall. I got there about an hour after they opened and there was... a very sparse selection. There are basically some shelves for Central European pantry items (spices, pasta, canned food, etc.), some shelves for 50% off goods, and some shelves for buns and rolls (for hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.). A small pastry display case sits next to the till; bread is displayed behind the counter. I think it takes fewer than 10 steps to get from the entrance to the back wall, so yeah, it's a small place. The reason there wasn't that much for sale was because they were still waiting for their delivery of inventory. Some of it arrived while I was there and it looked fully baked already. A number of items that were already in the display case were a day old. If you're concerned about freshness, don't be afraid to ask. The clerk was helpful and nice, albeit a little shy, but that was okay because I'm shy, too. :) In all fairness, I probably didn't arrive at the store at the best time. I would have loved a chance to buy their Danishes or braided bread, if they still sell those.
