| - Again, just as I did with Momofuku Noodle Bar, I decided to ignore the 3-star rating on Yelp and give this place a try. I've had the Momofuku in NY bookmarked for a few years already and I knew I probably wouldn't go back to the East Coast for awhile. I figure I'd give the Toronto location a try. Especially, since they had the famous Crack Pie there.
The first thing you should know is that Momfuku Milk Bar isn't a bar. Heck, it's not even a standalone business. It's basically a room, with see-thru glass walls, with racks of goodies. And, I do mean goodies! Aside from the Crack Pie, they also have cake truffles, a few different kinds of cookies, and mixes if you want to take it home. I pretty much got 1 of each to split with the wife and kids, so we could try different ones. My favorites were the Crack Pie, Birthday Cake Truffles, and Cornflake-Chocolate Chip-Marshmallow cookie. While I don't think the Crack Pie lived up to the hype, it was pretty good. It's borderline too-sweet, but since I split it with my wife, it was perfect. The Birthday Cake Truffle tasted like a birthday cake, but 5x better and in a cake pop format. While everybody is all on the Compost Cookie trip, I'd much prefer the Marshmallow cookie. That's not saying the Compost Cookie wasn't good, because it was, but I just prefer the other one. There is also a Blueberry cookie that is really good. The kids especially loved that one.
Again, because there is no cashier upstairs, you will have to take your selections downstairs to pay for them. It worked out, because as I was waiting for the food, I went upstairs to get desserts for the whole family. It's all individually wrapped, so it's easy to take home just in case you decide you're too full from dinner.
