  • It's about time for Vegas to have an off-Strip, state-of-the-art performing arts center. As a local, I believe we're very fortunate to have a performance venue, such as The Smith Center. It's allowed world renowned musicians and theatrical productions to showcase their art. I've been here twice: once for a work-related event and once for a performance. The meeting rooms at The Smith Center are great, and they have the latest technology installed. Catering is also available (food's not bad!), as well as an open bar option. The team that assists with setting up the meeting rooms for clients do a phenomenal job making sure that everything runs smoothly. Reynolds Hall is gorgeous and reminds me of other performance halls I've only seen in photos. The hall has multiple levels; each level also has boxed seating. The acoustics in this place are great -- as they should be! The stage effects -- in particular, the lighting -- were stunning for the event I last attended; though, I can imagine they were simplistic in comparison to the Broadway productions that come to town. However, the technology in this place is definitely high-end and equipped to handle any sort of production. My only grudge about the Smith Center is that there are no discounts for locals on performances, as far as I know. Tickets do cost quite a bit, and can even cost as much as some shows on The Strip. Yes, the performances at the center are different from the ones on The Strip and elsewhere in Vegas, but it would be nice to see a few offers for locals once in a while to promote performing arts.
