The Monkey is alright, but its a place with a bit of an identity problem. It's defining characteristic is the old time belt powered fans and monkey that pops out of the wall above the bar on occasion. It also features, arcade games, karaoke, and big screen televisions with sports. While all these things may work well separately, together they create the message that the Flying Monkey doesn't really know its identity.
Because of that preponderance, it isn't really a place that appeals to any particular constituency. Instead its a place where an diverse group of friends can get together and me moderately pleased.
Service and beverage selection is pretty good. I didn't get the chance to sample any mixed beverages, so no comment there. The only thing REALLY lacking is food, there simply isn't any.
