El Almacen is a cozy and funky cafe located centrally on Queen Street. I spotted the empanada sign and decided to step in to check it out. There was some Latin music playing, and a large painting of tango dancers added some flair to the room.
I got a beef & olive empanada to go, under $3. It was served warm, the pastry was light and flaky, and the beef and olive mix had a good amount of spices, without being overly salty. Perfect mid-day snack!
Although I didn't get to try the yerba mate, I will return for sure to try some of their other empanada offerings, and perhaps also a cup of yerba mate!
