My first visit will be my last. It was supposed to be a special dinner for two. The first thing that caught my attention was that the wait staff was a little bit under-groomed. The menu was not exciting as I had expected and had heard about. The server told us the specials. The server stated they had a 'Surf and Turf special which is a filet mignon with a lobster tail served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes'. It was the only thing either of us thought stood out I asked the price expecting between $30 - 40. The server had to check and returned telling us it was $46! It was way overpriced comparatively, esp. considering the location and this was not formal dining.
It was a special evening, so I figured I won't worry about the price. We both ordered the Surf and Turf. As the server approached with our food, my blood immediately began to boil. On top of the filets, looked like one large shrimp popping out of both of our meals. It was shocking to see a tiny piece of lobster sticking out of an EMPTY lobster tail shell. Not only was the lobster tail shell small, but most of the meat had been removed. it wasn't possible to be that much smaller than the shell it was in.
I opted to eat my lobster in two small bites instead of one medium bite. Basically It was like cutting a shrimp in half. The lobster 'popper' was too small to comment on. The filet mignon was cooked very well, but it was bland. The garlic mashed potatoes were bland. There were two asparagus sprigs for garnish.
I just resolved myself to never going there again and did not complain to the staff since it was a special dinner and I figured any restaurant that would gouge and cheat their customers that way is not worth my time or my future business. I just cut my losses for the sake of the evening. It would have been a very awkward conversation regardless of it being a special night out.
