| - Note: the current show has been revised so previous reviews may not be relevant to my experience (summer 2015).
I have seen a bunch of Cirque shows and love most of them. This was by far the least enjoyable. The entire first half was a yawn. A bunch of spear throwing and baton twirling that any high school drum major could do. I was seriously not impressed.
The later half was significantly better with more of the jaw dropping artistry that befits spending $500 for three people. Some of the acts were truly amazing. I have been to Cirque shows where there was a standing ovation at the end. Not the case here. Maybe 25% stood up (some heading to the exit) and I think this was very telling.
I think my disappointment is two fold. First, they spent too much time with the story and not enough time on the acrobatics. Second, there are copious advertisements as one leaves the venue for discounted tickets (e.g., buy one ticket and get another one for $30). Seats probably not as good as the ones I had (section 202, row CC) but still, it seriously cheapens the experience.
Since there don't appear to be too many bad seats, never pay retail or buy through the Cirque website (the Ticketmaster fee is ridiculous!) always buy from a half price ticket outlet. I bought mine through Vegas dot com where the ticketing fee was "just" $10 per ticket and the ticket was only discounted about $17 per seat. However, since I bought my tickets online in advance, I could not take advantage of the discount offers advertised within the venue.
Overall, I'd prefer O or La Nouba over this any day (preference to La Nouba - in Orlando).
If you have never seen a Cirque production, you might like this, but see O at the Bellagio first if paying more the $50 per person. Better yet, try to get comp'd if staying or playing on property at the MGM.
