| - Moved into a townhouse here about 9 months ago, despite the bad reviews, and after being warned about its reputation. Turns out, it's not that bad. If you read no further, know that it is a viable option for moving into Tremont, at an unbelievable price. Open your mind, and check it out.
The reason for 2 stars is because when we moved in, the house wasn't cleaned well, they do not allow dogs, it's a far cry from the wood floors/marble countertopped apartments you'll find just about everywhere in Tremont now, and you're constantly dealing with dust/noise from the steel mills, plants, and I-490. These are not luxury townhomes.
That being said, rent is very low, even for non section 8ers like myself, and I'd bet there are quite a few of us. Management and maintenance is prompt and professional. I've had WAYY worse landlords, even in the luxury apartments downtown. My neighbors are nice people - and yes, some are Section 8. Maybe it's the part of the development that I'm living in, but I have no concerns living here that I wouldn't have elsewhere in Tremont (or had when I was living near the Flats downtown).
Some of the reputation is true. At times, there are some sketchy people that walk/drive through the area. Some times, people will be blasting music from their cars late at night. And I have heard reports of car theft and break ins. But guess what? That's what happens in urban areas! Downtown, Ohio City, other areas of Tremont ... it's NO different!
I suspect most of the "reputation" comes from a lot of people used to lily white, upper middle class suburban life, and are afraid of living around people of different races and incomes. If that's the case with you, then don't live here, and shame on you. I'm guessing Mr. Chas M. never lived here, either.
