What a frustrating experience I had the other day. I went to Best Buy first thing in the morning, thinking that I would avoid the crowds and talk to someone about laptops. I was hoping to find someone knowledgeable that would help me narrow down the couple of options I have been considering.
With the store almost totally emptly, and with staff standing around, "new guy" eventually made his way over to me. I quickly realized that he was in over his head and new less than I did. He eventually got someone else to come over and help. This guy new marginally more than the first guy. But, he could not give me much useful information, did not know very much about the products I was looking for, and kept referring me to their website to look at products and ask questions. I wanted to know when an item I was interested in would be arriving (I knew it would be some time in the new year), but I got yet another "I don't know" and "check the website". Maybe he was still half asleep, but he could have done some checking himself and helped me find the information. There was NO ONE else there. He did not even offer to show me the laptops that were in the store that I was considering. Power was also out to several units and you could not get hands on with certain product lines.
I definitely got the sense they were all putting in the minimum effort possible.
Why do they bother having a store if they keep telling you to go to the website to do your ordering or pre-ordering and then have it shipped to the store. Is it just a glorified consumer's distributing of the electronics world?
Never again!
