| - I have had TWO seperate disappointing experiences at Superstition Honda.
In May, I took my car in because one of the light bars on the digital spedometer display was intermittent. I explained this to the advisor who "understood". I picked up my car ans found out later that they had replaced the ODOMETER display screen. So, I had to leave my car there for most of a day again for them to replace what was actually broken- the spedometer.
Recently, I had an issue with the ignition cylinder lock.
Background information: a few years back, the driver door cylinder was replaced and my service agreement would not pay for a re-key, therefore I had 2 keys for the vehicle from that point on.. So, I had been experiencing some sticking with the lock and knew I needed to get the vehicle checked out. I became stranded with my child after my the ignition key would not go into the lock. My father picked us up and reaffirmed with me that I needed to have the vehicle towed. The next day, I called to explain the situation to Honda and talked to an advisor whom I will refer to as S. S appeared to understand the issue and told me he would contact me after the vehicle had been looked at. Approximately 7 hours later, S called me to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle and that I needed to "get one of my keys programed" ( this is the key that I told him was ONLY for the driver door). Frustrated, I picked up my vehicle at which point S told me to just rub a pencil on the key for lubrication. I assured him that I would be back before the week was over when the lock failed again. The car hopper drove my car up to me (after some time of what I assume was shoving the key in the ignition) and I drove home. Upon arriving home, I decided to test the key myself at which point the key became completely stuck in the ignition. I had to have my vehicle towed BACK to Honda where S stood shaking his head. He stated that he was "embarrassed" and apologized. He ended up having Honda comp me with a rental car (they paid for 5 days). I appreciated this, but had they done their jobs in the first place, they would not have felt the need to provide a rental in the first place. Anyway, it was discovered that I needed a new ignition in cylinder and when S called me to tell me this, he said that all I would have to do is pay $80 for a re-key and my vehicle would work with 1 key again (remember that different driver lock? He said that the whole car would work on ONE key). I repeated what he said and confirmed because I was surprised! It took a couple of days for them to get the ignition cylinder and have things re-keyed. I got a call 2 days later that the car could not be programmed and it needed something else which they had to order (I forget the name). I was told it would be in on Monday... then Tuesday... and then finally I get ASSURED that my car would be ready by noon WEDNESDAY (1 week after the second tow). When S called me to pick up the car, he says "oh, by the way, you will have to pay $30 to just have 1 key to your vehicle since we could not get the key out of the original ignition cylinder". I was not happy with this since if they had fixed the car when it was FIRST towed to them, the key would not be stuck in there! But fine, we arrived to Honda and paid for the key and even paid for a second key to have 2 "fully functional" keys. After they programmed the keys (which they did do for free after we purchased the actual key), S came to the waiting room and told us that the car was ready to go and that he tested the keys himself. (With out 1 year old), my husband and I went out to our car and began testing the keys... we then realized that they had keyed the IGNITION to our DRIVER DOOR- the one that was different than the rest of the vehicle. Visibly upset, I went in to tell S what they did and he felt bad. He said that the locksmith they work with wold probably just correct it for free since they do so much business. After much back and forth, S said we would have to pay $225 to have the car work on 1 key.
I am upset at the whole situation but especially with the fact that I was promised one thing and got another. I also felt like I was belittled as a woman initially after getting the car towed the first time.
