| - We came here for Tuesday night Beer Education: a rep from a craft brewery comes and you get four tasters of their beer and get to learn a little about it. The event started at 7 and we arrived at 6:45 and had no problem getting a table. The brewery rep was from Ommagang and we tried a wit, a sour/brown hybrid, a triple, and a DIPA. All free!
We also ordered food. I had the portabella sandwich (portabella, red pepper, pesto, cheese), which was perfectly grilled and pressed and was very tasty! But for $8, I thought it was a little over priced considering it didn't come with a side or anything. My friends each ordered a half Red, White, and Green salad, which is listed on the menu as a whole salad only, but the waiter was happy to accommodate the request for a half portion for half price.
Unfortunately, by the time our second tasting came by, the world series had come on TV and the bar got really crowded. The announcements about the beer were hard to hear, we could barely hear each other from across the table, and they were severely understaffed for the crowd. Our poor waiter was also serving as bartender, so we didn't see him much and had to track him down to get our checks. I'm hoping this isn't typical on a Tuesday night, especially during Beer Education, so I'll have to give it another try another time.
