| - Overall, this hotel is conveniently located in the Downtown area so is great for walking, shopping, restaurants, etc. Although our rooms were perfectly comfortable and large (being a Platinum Marriott, we got upgraded), the service and food misses the mark. Here is the breakdown:
Check in: generally seems to be busy but the front desk staff do their best to accommodate and be efficient. Good check in experience
Concierge: older gentleman who "works" at concierge had the biggest attitude problem. He doesn't suggest anything so it leaves you asking where sites are location to which he seems to be annoying having to point them out on a map...um, hello, isn't this the whole point of the concierge?! Then we returned to a different question, he stated "oh you are back". Very strange behavior. There is another younger gentleman who was friendly and very helpful.
Food: the lounge food was just fine but the breakfast in main restaurant left nothing to be desired so much that we even skipped our last day's free breakfast because it was so underwhelming. Hostess is never around to seat you and the servers do not greet you for atleast 10 minutes and you have to basically hunt them down. Horrible service.
Rooms: great, updated, large. We even had a balcony with semi downtown views of Montreal
Lounge: nice lounge, two floors. Basic but welcoming.
Location: good location although we would stay at Old Port next time
Price: average. There are MANY hotels in this same area so shop around. We paid about $1,000 for 3 nights so not cheap but not overpriced either.
