| - Basis for my starred ratings (which skews heavily to the food or drink):
1 star: Never again.
2 stars: Poor food, poor experience, extraordinary measures in order for me to come back.
3 stars: Average, nothing really special, nothing particularly bad.
4 stars: Very good, would definitely return.
5 stars: A favorite, one of the best.
Let me just start by saying the pho here is fine. It's pretty good. But when compared to all the other pho out there in Arizona and California, I can't quite get it to even 4 stars.
First, a bowl of pho here costs about a buck more than most other places. A buck, in relation to the cost of pho generally, is pretty substantial. The broth is typically less flavorful than other places, though it is a very clean broth. The bowl is a little smaller, meaning you get just a little less of everything (and when you get a pho dac biet, a little less of everything is noticeable.) The spring rolls, also smaller, a little heavy on the noodle filling.
I've had a couple other random dishes from here which have been fine, but again, nothing outstanding, which is the general vibe of the entire place, thus the 3-star review.
