I went to try on a dress that I fell in love with online and was excited that Bowtie had it. The sample was a bit small on my hips so the fit was off, the saleswoman kept hiking the dress up and it looked really weird. As I have been a professional seamstress and designer for the last 15 years I adjusted it to where it had to lay (dress bra cups fit on the bra worn underneath, not on top of the breasts). Shouldn't the ability to do a basic fitting be expected?
I would this roll this off but... The saleswoman suggested a specific dress to try next. It was an extremely oversized nightgown like dress. She said "oh, this is our maternity dress, haha!". I'm a 33 year old, 5'4", 120 lb and size 4. Yes, I could loose some weight and be a size 2. How is it possible that my little tummy would make me look pregnant? Is that supposed to be funny?! This would be embarrassing and slightly offensive in a normal dress, but it made the experience of buying a wedding dress very unpleasant.
I tried on a few other dresses to be polite but felt very self conscious about the fit and being mocked. I'm really not looking forward to continue shopping at other stores. What a way to ruin something that is supposed to be so special.
Obviously I will not be shopping here again and recommend my friends who are currently planning weddings to not go there either.
