  • Seriously, do some research on memory foam & "off-gassing." Your overzealous salesperson won't mention this aspect of memory foam. The toxic chemical odor was horrendous & made us ill as it off-gassed from a toxic mix of petrochemicals used to make memory foam. Your salesperson will tell you how NASA invented memory foam. What they will not say is NASA never used their invention, since it was toxic. Memory foam is very comfortable, no doubt, but hey, tobacco is a great stress reliever. Then mattresses have this "CertipurUS certification." The logo is a green-friendly looking, green leaf in a circle. Their certification basically means the mattress wasn't made with chemicals that are illegal to use anyway. If you do a bit of research on CertipurUS, you'll learn it's a consortium of chemical companies telling you their chemicals & chemical-based products are "safe," & don't use banned chemicals. It's like Michigan's governor telling folks in Flint the water is safe to drink. We had the mattress all of 2 days before we told Steinhafels to take it away. The mattress made us sick. I got headaches & my wife, who hasn't had an asthma attack in 1.5 years, had three in 2 nights. After they took the mattress, the odor lingered for a week. I can't imagine what spending 8 hours a night, every night for 8-10 years on toxic memory foam will do to your body, your respiratory system, not to mention the neurological effects. A good night's rest isn't just about physical comfort, it's about trusting you're not endangering your health & safety by inadvertently huffing petrochemical fumes. Once it "off-gasses," & the strong odor disappears, it continues at a basically undetectable level (to your senses) for its lifetime. I appreciate Steinhafel's took the mattress back & gave a full refund (thus 2-stars), but I wish we never went through this in the first place. I hope this warning helps others avoid our nightmare.
