I'd love to give this place a better review but I can't. I wanted to like it, I really did. For the most part their stuff is decent albeit a bit over priced for the quality. It's the service where it really falls apart. I've been probably 10 times as it's the closest butcher to my house and if you get the stuff from the counter then you might be ok. HOWEVER I've gotten specific things cut a few times and it's always disappointing. Overlooking the unsolicited cooking tips that are occasionally condescending (today wasn't as bad).... They never show you what they have cut. They just do it in the back and bring it to the cash already wrapped. Once I asked for a 3" porterhouse and he made it over 6" ($130).... way more than I wanted. There was a similar experience with lamb and today was the last straw. Asked for a filet mignon to be cut larger than the bacon wrapped ones on display as I was making something special. Saw the weight and it was right around 1 lb so thought finally I was in good shape. When I got home and unwrapped it they had cut the kinda of stringy end piece off the end of a tenderloin. My steak had one round end... Maybe from a sale bin at loblaws but not for a $35 butcher cut steak. It's almost as though asking for something specific bothers them so they try to get back at you. That was my last time there. You'll be much better off going to Royal York Meat Market or Medium Rare.
