  • When we were in Las Vegas, one of the restaurants that were on my must try list was Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bistro. It had won a couple of Opentable Diners' Choice Awards for Best French in Las Vegas and Fit for Foodies. We decided to go for brunch because there were other restaurants that we wanted to go for dinner, and actually, brunch at Bouchon sounded like such a good idea! We didn't make a reservation beforehand and just walked-in for breakfast. It was around 9:30am, so we didn't expect the restaurant to be completely full with customers. After I did some research for this blog post, I realized that Bouchon doesn't actually take any reservations for breakfast and brunch; only walk-ins! We originally wanted to sit outside at their patio, but we were hungry so didn't bother waiting for it (~20 minutes). So, we were almost immediately seated inside near their patio. What did we order? We skipped the viennoiseries and pastries because I wanted to check their Bouchon Bakery out on the main floor of The Venetian (and underneath their clock tower). Hubby ordered Le Burger Bouchon ($19.50) and I had their Tartine du Jour ($17.00), an open sandwich. The topping of the day was tuna salad. After we ordered, we were given complimentary bread and butter to enjoy during our wait. It was a classic French baguette but shaped in a beautiful braid! I saw one of the servers holding a long untorn braid of this baguette, and it was amazing. Anyway, the bread was tasty and I loved the texture because it wasn't too hard of a baguette. For some reason, our order took longer than other customers' breakfast. I have a feeling it was because we ordered dishes that took more time than other simple breakfast dishes (eg. omelette, eggs, bacon, etc.), but I'm not 100% sure why it took longer. When it finally arrived, hubby and I were both pleasantly surprised at our dishes because the portions were huge! The potato fries were so perfectly cooked: golden brown, crispy, and so incredibly delicious...they got me so excited. My sandwich was served with olives, fresh lettuce, and pickles along with my huge side of fries. Topped with boiled eggs, thinly sliced radish, and some parsley on top, it was delicious! I hadn't had tuna salad in a long time, so I enjoyed them very much.
