  • This is probably one of my favorite spots in Cleveland. I have been coming here for as long and I can remember. I have been living out of the Cleveland area for years, but always made a point to visit when in town visiting friends. Now that I live in Cleveland again, this is back to being at the top of my list of favorite places. We love to take everyone that comes to visit us here and show them around. The market is over 100 years old and that history is everywhere when you are walking around. Make sure to look up when you are walking around. You can get ready to eat food, head upstairs, eat and people watch. There are great crepes. You can also get a Gyro (but get in line early as the line can be super long.) I am not the biggest fan of all of the produce stands. Most of them sell many of the same things and I am not 100% sure about the localness of all of them. Also, if you do buy produce, I would recommend eating sooner than later as these items are fresh and fresher than what you would get at the grocery store, so they will turn faster. My favorite produce stand is Basketeria Produce. I prefer to spend most of my time and my money inside on meat, cheese and bread. There is such a wide variety. I have never had any issues with any of the stands or any of their products. I prefer to come early in the AM and also during the week as it is less crowded and not yet picked over. However, there is something very special about the market on a Saturday. It is not even that it is ever that crowded. However, there are just a lot of people with the carts on wheels (and those annoy me.) Depending on time of day, day of week and any upcoming holiday, parking can get tight. However, they have a lot. If you cannot fine parking there, try the street. Worst case, there are a few pay to park lots in the area. Check out their website - they have a map of their vendors. . Most vendors do take credit cards. However, not all of them do. Also, most of the vendors that do take credit cards have a minimum purchase amount, so go prepared with cash. If you have never been here before, make a point to visit. It is well worth it!!!
