  • Brother-in-law's bro declared this place: "The best barbecue in Charlotte." I had to see this. The menu is pretty straightforward - go for the lunch special: $9 for a plate of barbecue chopped pork, coleslaw, and your choice of fries or Bill Spoon's infamous stew. I went with the latter. Boy was I impressed. First off, they serve you the plates picnic style, paper plates with 3 dividers. The pork was salty and tangy, which was probably because it was vinegar based. But because it was chopped, it was so easy to eat. Their coleslaw has to be the best I've ever had. It comes out in a big spoonful and you taste the richness of the mustard. Also a big flavor burster: the celery. My trick was to take a forkful of the pork and place a small spoonful of the slaw right on top for one quick bite. I must've finished my plate in 20 minutes. Now for their stew. It's a cross between a chili and a thick salsa, only warmer and more flavorful. It's actually pretty hard to describe. Honestly, I didn't think it went well with the pork and slaw but it was fantastic by itself. I finished my stew first before taking over the pork and slaw. One of us also ordered the fries and they were crispy and unsalted. Very very good. Oh yea, CASH ONLY. And they are only open from 11/12PM - 4PM. And the BEST hush puppies I've tasted so far. They look like fried mini cocktail weiners, only taste like soft falafel balls. Mmmmmm.
