I have an elderly St. Bernard and she has long hair. I have been taking her for grooming at PetSmart every 9 or so months because it is difficult keeping her fur nice & she sheds during shedding seasons. I have tried to have her shaved to make her more comfy in the summer & to cut down on the tumbleweed hair balls that like to float across our floors. But they were not able to do that, they said she wouldn't stand up for them & kept leaning against them too much.
I took her here and they said they would shave her. I also had the furminator (sp?) done as well to get her undercoat cleaned out (that works really well when I've gotten it done at PetSmart).
I was pleasantly surprised & pleased when I picked my baby up. She was shaved! She looked so cute! She even had little bows & kerchief on. She was happy & clean and I couldn't have been more happy with the service. I gave a very nice tip actually after I learned the groomer had taken a lot of time & patience with her. Large dogs have a hard time standing for any amount of time as we learned when we had our mastiff professionally trained. And our Ramsey is old and hips aren't what they used to be. So she would let her sit or lay down and accomodated to her so took a lot of time to get her completely shaved.
I really appreciate they took that kind of time & attention to take care of our baby.
