| - !!!!! DO NOT GO HERE FOR OMBRE/BALAYAGE !!!!
They will scam you with reassurances that they can do it and the end result is a patchy orange hair! I was left traumatized and now I'm forever scarred from this experience.
I went in for a morning appointment, giving an extra hour in case it went over 2 hours long for a ombre/balayage. I had three very clear photos of what I wanted. I had grown out my hair for A YEAR since I last dyed it so he was working with 100% VIRGIN HAIR. My hairstylist was a male wearing a hat with medium length black wavy hair, he didn't have any tattoos on his arms ( I think his name was Tsubasa). So beware if you get him because he reassured me again and again that he knew what he was doing but obviously, he has no idea. (Maybe none of them do because I'm reading some other people's experiences with ombre and they all seem to have gone horribly!) After about 10 minutes of discussion and showing him the photos again and again, he told me he knew what I wanted and began cutting my hair and then applying bleach. (And now I'm realising he never gave me a quote before we began). After he washed off the bleach, I noticed that there was a harsh horizontal line where it should be a gradual fade.. he reassured me that after applying the colour, it would blend nicely. Also the balayage was very poor and unblended. So seeing as how weird the bleach looked, I asked him to show me the colour he was going to put in, which he didn't even offer to do first. What kind of a hairstylist doesn't show you the colour sample they put in on your first visit!? I saw the colour and he told me it might come out A LITTLE yellow. I told him if he thinks he needs to put in more bleach, then go for it. But he said it'll be okay. So I trusted him again. After he washed out the colour and blow dried my hair, the colour was slowly starting to show and to my shock it was PATCHES of ORANGE, BLUEISH GREY, and YELLOW. On top of that, there was ZERO fading from my natural colour to all these crazy colours. I also have a big patch of my natural colour at the back of my head and a straight line dividing the bleached area from my natural hair. How can anyone with any experience FAIL so horribly at this? It looks as if I tried to do this at home on my own! I cannot stress enough how many times he could have just told me he couldn't do it or if the hair salon notified me that I should request for a more experienced hairstylist and that I should just switch back to my normal hair colour and find someone else to do it! On top of that, his english was poor and he kept calling balayage "highlights". What he did wouldn't even pass for highlights. For a quote of $150+ on their website, I wanted to just break down. I showed him the photos again and again, and he stood there asking me "is this not the colour you wanted?" It was already 2PM, 4 HOURS after my appointment started. I tried to stay very calm and I told him what can he do about this--either try to blend it or dye it all back to my natural colour. He reassured me, again, that he could fix it and could blend it "better" as if it was blended the slightest at the time. I called into my work late because of this and gave him another chance, thinking that maybe it was a genuine mistake. That decision is leaving me with every single person on the TTC staring at me like I'm crazy. So after another hour of applying a second darker colour ALL OVER, I ended up looking like a DIY hair dye gone wrong. My appointment lasted from 10am-3pm.
Then comes the time where I can't go into work any later and he's offering me to come in the next day to try to fix it again. I couldn't believe he was still trying to fool me that he knew what he was doing. I told him I really don't believe in him nor in this hair salon anymore and I ask him what we should do about it. He tells me I should pay $100! I couldn't believe he was trying to make me pay anything at all, but at the same time I was desperate to get out so we ended up agreeing on me paying for my haircut from the beginning of the appointment--$50 after tax. Thinking about this now, I shouldn't have had to pay a cent. But I was so traumatized and ready to break down that I pretty much paid $50 to leave the place.
