When our Aussie of 12 years became sick, we were referred by our regular vet to a cardiologist. Living in the Chicago area, there aren't a lot of options for cardiologists, and they tend to have a long wait time to get in for an appointment. We could not wait to get our girl in so we drove up to Madison to have her seen.
The vet staff in cardiology were amazing, thoroughly explained what was wrong and what the treatment plan was. They answered all calls and emails, and worked with us to help keep our girl as comfortable as possible. They clearly explained that the disease was degenerative and that they could help keep things from progressing as quickly as if she was on no medication. Then they continued to work with our regular vet to continue her treatment and check-ups. Their treatment plan really helped make her more comfortable. Last night we sadly had to say goodbye to our girl, but I will be forever grateful for the compassion, caring, and expertise offered by the cardiologists at the clinic.
