My lovely lady brought me to Lovelady Brewing during our most recent visit to Vegas. It is located way out on the outskirts in what I can only assume is "downtown" Henderson. Pulling up to the dimly lit taproom, I was beginning to get the Tenaya Creek feeling so to speak. It appeared to be more bar than taproom, at least from outside.
Once we walked in, it gave me that cozy craft brewery taproom feeling. No smoky casino vibe here. Service was good and she seemed to know her beer.
We seated ourselves and got down to the business of tasting beer. Or at least I did. The tasters were $2 each and came in the best glasses I've seen to date. They're almost a mini version of the Spiegelau IPA glasses. Not sure how many ounces they were as they didn't arrive full which was mildly disappointing.
Not sure what their relationship with Sin City Brewing is but they oddly offered the strip's infamous "craft" beer on tap in addition to their own. Since I've tried all that before, I stuck to their own offerings in addition to a Joseph James collaboration.
All of their beers were decent to good. Although for some reason every one I tried tasted as if the same yeast was used regardless of style. They seem to love their Belgians here and do them well, even if it's not my personal preference. At least they're not jumping on the sour fad bandwagon.
The Coffee Porter, along with the Double and Session IPAs were my favorites. I took a Crowler of the HopAtomic back to the hotel to enjoy later. This might be the only brewery in the Vegas area that has a Crowler machine? Gotta give them bonus points for that.
While they may not be as far along as other Henderson area breweries such Joseph James or CraftHaus, they do brew surprisingly solid beer. And when it comes to beer, the more the merrier, I say.
