  • I want to start off by saying, this was the most horrible experience ever we had renting with this particular Alamo located at the McCarran Alamo Rent a Car Center. My Father who rented it through CostcoTravel.Com was visiting from Hawaii. We get to the counter and I really wish I took the agents names down who were helping us. They ask us all the normal questions and it came to the gas question, if we wanted to pay an extra fee to fill up with them upon return. I decline and say, it's ok, we'll just fill the tank up before returning the rental on our own on the outside or on base, because we're a military family. The agent in a sarcastic voice made me feel so uncomfortable and makes a remark..That was the first encounter. Second peeve that pissed me off is, it's a summer day in June, with temps well over 105+ and it's in the garage where they take you to pick out your rental. Now we had reserved a Ford Transit. I explain my wants and what I didn't want and the people that handle that area kept telling me, I'm sorry but we have no Ford Transits avaialbale. I speak to another person, who doesn't speak really good English and he tells me, not to worry ma'am, there's a van for you. They come back with a van that's not working properly, banged up on the top and stink as heck. I mean, stink to where it smells like butt awn nobody even bothered to vacuum it. Crumbs all over. By this time we're over it and decide what the heck, just go...the lady at the booth upon leaving tells me, take the rental back, because it's not working properly they'll have to issue me a new one. Fine by me, this van stinks anyways. It's pretty banged up too and the AC isn't working properly. By this time we've been at Alamo for nearly an hour. Which is pretty darn crazy. My Dad is 73 and I have my children with me, all 6 of them ages 3, 5, 9, 17, 19 and 23. The older kids can deal with the heat, but my senior citizen Dad and younger ones, not so much. Second rental comes back and it's not even what we wanted, but you know what, by now...we're all annoyed with eachother and more so, Alamo. It's hot, we're tired and finally almost after 2 hours we decide to take the second stinky rental home, but we stop by Walmart to buy, air freshner spray and the ones to put by your AC vents. The rental was so stink, it smelt like ASS. I'm sorry you read right, ASS. So we call Alamo customer service and the nice man that talks to me tells me to bring it back, because we as customers shouldn't have to deal with a rental we're paying for that smells so bad. By this time, I'm livid. Not only do I have to go back and get another rental, but we have to take time away from spending precious time as a Family while my Dad is visiting from Hawaii. He's 73 and I had to drag him back when he should have been spending time with his grandkids or resting from a long day. I have never heard of anyone purchasing air freshners for a rental. We left the air freshners when we returned the 3rd rental they issued us. The last one we stuck with was exactly what we rented, but it had busted seat belts, it was also smelly like it was the Ford Transits we see the workers at Alamo shuttling their workers in. Everything that belonged to us and went in that van, had to be washed when we came back from our vacay, because you could smell the rental lingering on all of our belongings. Prior to renting with Alamo, we used Enterprise your parent company. We felt like royalty over on their side. When we arrived to get my Dad's rental from Enterprise, they explained that the vans were all out, but upgraded us to an SUV. Alamo, you need to train your employees in every department better than the customer service they're giving out. I really wish I took names down. Counter agents, to the Manager by the return area and the agents working the counter in the garage. We will never be renting through Alamo again. This experience was horrible and they didn't compensate us for time wasted and poor rental conditions. They also told me, we could return the rental and get issued another one at any location in Nevada....Only 2 locations here which is Reno and Las Vegas. Do you know how far Reno is?!! Sorry for the long review and if I may add, if I could give this place no stars, I would have, but we can't. Employees lack experience or maybe some of them need a change of scenery.
