I was very very disappointed in our stay. Having grown up in the area Quail Hollow had always been the picture of luxury and now I'd put it on par with a value hotel. While there weren't any nightmarish conditions, I'd expect far more for the money. I certainly wouldn't call this a "resort". The towels are like sandpaper, the parking lot and driveways are a disaster, the carpets need replaced badly, the toilet in our room ran and the heater was so loud it would wake me up with it turned on.
The staff was less than helpful. Our room smelled strongly like cigarette smoke for the majority of our stay. It wasn't just a stale smell from years past, it was obvious that someone near us was violating the no smoking rule. I called the front desk on three occasions to complain. Denise was at the desk each time and could did not care even a little about the smoke smell, she seemed rather annoyed that I would bother her about it. She did offer to come up and spray our room which I declined because I didn't want a flower AND smoke scented room.
Next time we are in town we will be staying across the street.
