  • This review is for the ice cream service that I receive in Austin, Texas. I'll begin by stating "the pint club" is an amazing offering: three pints sent via dry iced first class mail to your home or office along with easy and free return shipping (just flip the sides of the boxes around to reveal the return label, which you can drop off at your local post office to reuse and reduce landfill waste). For 12 pints in four shipments, the cost is $250. This averages to about $106 in shipping total over the entire year. We've also done a special order, which in the ice cream shipping world is a real deal. Their $13 flat rate in shipping costs pales in comparison to what you'll find with Ample Hills Ice Creams in Brooklyn (try $108 for shipping to Austin their special and limited time only $36 extra Star Wars-inspired four pack). At the Salt & Straw in Portland, you'll pay $110 in shipping to Austin each GD MONTH for their pint club (not counting the $65 in five pints of ice cream itself). So, the value is there if you live outside of the area, compared with its peers. Let's continue. The ice cream is tops. Hard, dense, creamy, just the right amount of sweet. Their Ndali Estate Vanilla is one of my favorite vanilla beans, which is my all time favorite flavor. The reason I'm posting this now, since I've never actually been to Ohio, let alone to the creamery, is that their customer satisfaction guarantee that I experienced this week really blew me away. Over the summer, Jeni's suffered from the same listeria scare that we had in Texas with Blue Bell. D., who got me the pint club for my birthday, was issued a voucher for three pints to replace the ones we'd got before. We used it to place a double order over the Thanksgiving holiday, and on Friday we received an email stating that because the ice cream was going to be a day late, they were over-nighting us another six pack Monday (it arrived the following afternoon) because they want to ensure quality. Our first shipment seemed fine, but this kind of customer obsession basically ensures I'll be a Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams customer for life. Such excellence in customer service makes me fiercely angry! Gar! Why can't every user experience be so amazing?
