I've made three trips to Quilter's Ranch in the past few weeks as I was completing a quilt and needed a few things. First, I wasn't greeted when I walked in, but I'm OK with that. I don't need to be THAT noticed when I come in. I started browsing and in a few minutes was asked if I needed assistance. Why yes, I do. I needed protection for my poor fingers as I was sewing on the binding to my quilt. The person behind the register told me about a couple of options and then showed me different one. I thought this was great. Very helpful. Pricing for each item was a bit high for what I wanted to spend, so I oped for the mid-range option.
The fabric selection is OK and not as large as I would like. They had lots of fat quarter pieces. The fat quarters I saw only a week before were gone. So, if you like something, get it then! They are pricey compared to what you can get elsewhere where I can find yardage for around $6.95 a yard. In the end, I purchased a small amount of fabric for my stash. The fabric is of good quality.
On another occasion I arrived at about 3:45 and realized the outdoors signs were being brought in. I didn't realize they closed at 4 p.m. I said that I didn't realize they were closing and the woman was very polite and said I had some time. I didn't get offended. It was my mistake for not looking up their hours. I didn't sense any rudeness in her tone at all.
I get what I need from this store. I will go there when I need something quickly and don't feel like browsing (although with all the beautiful fabric it is quite tempting). I can get in and out without waiting in long lines at the big craft stores. It's a couple miles from home so it's very convenient. Sometimes it's worth it to pay more to save time. I will go there again as needed.
