| - this isn't a review for the grooming center, just customer service, i suppose. stopped by with the pup just to take a look around, as we're planning on moving back to Phx soon. I like to scope out all the good pet places on yelp... this store is pretty big, lots of grooming stations. It seems well cleaned. There's a cute selection of dog treats that they make there.... West Paw beds and toys - actually TONS of really fun looking toys. Right now, our pup has waaaay too many, so when we are looking for some new ones, I'd stop by.
The foods they carry: Solid Gold, Orijen, Evangers, Wellness, TOTW, California Naturals, EVO, Innova, Canidae.... prob more. a decent selection of both dry kibble and canned, as well as cat options too. They have quite a selection of harnesses, from step-ins to the super luxe Puppias (a M runs ~ $25 here). From my extensive research - and it IS extensive, the food pricing isn't too bad. It's pretty competitive. Not the cheapest, but not a rip-off.
What I like: I called to ask about ... duh duh duuuuuhhhhhhhhh.... anal gland expression. And I like what the guy who answered told me! He said they don't do it and don't recommend getting it done by a groomer because it can actually impact the glands - they recommend getting it done by a vet. BRAVO to WNW for being up front and caring about dogs' health first and foremost!
What I didn't like: They weren't too friendly, and for a pet store, didn't seem interested in meeting my little pup. He wasn't offered any samples of the treats, and when I browsed the food, no one asked me if I needed any help or had any questions. It was also a bit messy, with a few bags of food blocking some aisles.
I WILL give them another shot, and might end up taking my pup there for a bath. And I will probably end up dropping some $$$ on toys - I just hope that service is a little more friendly next time.
