ANOTHER UPDATE: Wow just got another apology from City Athletic Club again expressing their upset by the way I was mistreated. Here is a company who CARES about the success of their patrons and goes the extra mile to ensure a good experience. I have upgraded my stars to show how impressed I've been with their professionalism.
I am a snowbird who spends winters in Las Vegas, away from the snow that plagues my hometown. I am a Silver Sneakers member and set out to find a gym that honored and welcomed my membership. The City Athletic Club's location was about 5 miles from my home but seemed to have all the amenities that I wanted so we went to check it out. My friend and I were greeted nicely by Zach but were quickly handed off to Derek, even though I had called for an appointment in advance. Derek treated us like a "bad smell" and there was no tour of the facility or explanations of the features of this location. In the end I did not choose this venue as Derek was rude, off putting and acted like my questions were nonsense. Certainly not what I expected from a facility that could attract more Seniors if treated with respect. While my membership is free to me because I am a Senior Citizen, the reception from this individual was not welcoming, in fact the direct opposite. Funny because my insurance pays them for each visit. I might mention that for a Sunday the place was sparsely attended and I only saw one Senior Citizen. If I could give negative stars, I would. You can be sure I will not be back and all my friends are going to be cautioned to stay clear of this place.
UPDATE: I got an unexpected call from Zach a few days ago to apologize on behalf of his facility. He wanted me to know how sorry he was for my poor experience and assured me that it is not the norm. Now that's what I call professional. Apology accepted!
