| - I also bought the Groupon for a mani/pedi. Oh my! I have had less than stellar experiences at nail salons before. Some of them leave something to be desired in terms of ambiance or cleanliness. This one left EVERYTHING to be desired.
This place is a hole in the wall as far as salons go. It consists of mainly two small rooms: the main room where they do hair, and the smaller room where they do manicures and pedicures. As soon as I saw it, I thought about bolting and simply losing the money I spent on the Groupon. In retrospect, I should have gone with my gut.
Like Jill M. said, the owner is awkward and, to me, a bit creepy. He took me to the small room and pulled out a chair that might as well be a wooden chair from any middle or high school that closed down in the last couple decades and placed it in the middle of the room. He then brought over a small, electric footbath like the kind you have at home. I might as well have used the one I OWN at home- at least I own comfortable chairs. And the surroundings would have been much better too. There was so much junk in that room that it was hard to say what else it was used for. There was a closet overflowing with old linens and all manner of discarded items. The table that housed the nail polish colors was one of the dirtiest things I have ever seen. Thank god I brought my own polish!
This is absolutely the last place you want to take your shoes off and let someone rub your feet. Honestly, I was really upset and creeped out by the experience. It is not right to advertise manicures and pedicures and then surprise the clientele by having them sit in a large closet sized, dirty, storage room (I cannot state whether the room is always this messy, but it was when I visited) with their feet in your old footbath that is made for home, not commercial, use. On top of the terrible surroundings, the owner did not appear to be experienced in giving pedicures. I could have done a better job myself.
Near the end of the pedicure and before the manicure, I pretended I got an urgent text from my boyfriend and had to leave. I redeemed the mani/pedi Groupon for only the pedi and got out of there.
UPDATE
The owner sent me this message privately regarding my initial review. I find this extremely interesting giving his dismissive reply and the fact that I never said what day, month or year I used my Groupon. And he couldn't have known from name alone, as I don't use my legal first name here. Once again, the manicure/pedicure is not something I could ever write a positive experience about. Maybe they have better hair services...

This is Tania Oliverio, I want to apologize for the state of our salon the day you had a pedicure. There was a death in our family and we were away for five days. Our employee was to take care of the salon and he didn't. Ron started cleaning a short time before you came and he felt embarrassed about it. Elizabeth , we will gladly refund your $30 if you remove the Yelp review. We can send it to you,or you or someone else can pick it up at the salon. Again, sorry for your bad experience.
