| - Las Vegas means 'the meadows' in Spanish. I always prefer the latter.
Named by Esquire Magazine as one of the 20 best new restaurants of 2010, this small lobby restaurant at Aria is good, but not exceptional.
For one thing, the restaurant is located in a cavernous casino lobby where you get a fair amount of noise, and it doesn't feel like a traditional tapas restaurant. The ambiance is more like a Johnny Rockets with its bright, flashy design instead of the small, crowded, gritty tapas places you'd experience in Spain.
They seem to be going for a Spanish-Asian vibe with several items on the menu that incorporate Japanese and Chinese influences. I thought the Tortilla Espanola was so-so; something I make better at home. Prices are predictably high for a celebrity chef restaurant in Vegas, and especially once you start ordering several small dishes, but not outrageous. If you find yourself in town searching for Spanish food, Julian Serrano is a winner, but if you're open for anything, you can do better.
