My husband I adopted a beautiful, loving Beagle/Golden/??? mix from a young family who had delegated her to the backyard once they started a family (they had a 3 mos. old and 2 1/2 yr. old). No doubt she saw the babies as a threat since the woman was single when she adopted her from foster care. I did a search for trainers who used only positive reinforcement and would come to our home to work with us, and I found Carol Lynn Fox of Blue Ribbon K9 Academy who had nothing but fantastic reviews, and now we know why. She is prompt, professional, caring and KNOWS WHAT SHE'S DOING. Be prepared to carefully listen, watch and practice with your dog whatever their issue is (ours is overly protective of us and goes into major guard dog mode the second we step out on to our condo patio. It's a huge condo group and Carol immediately picked up on what a different dog she was the moment she stepped outside. She is overly protective of us (and herself?) and has one enormous set of "vocals" on her and can go from Lassie to Cujo in a flash. It will be no easy feat to get whatever instilled that in her totally out of her considering her age, but Carol Lynn has gotten us off to a great start, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone who has doggie issues that need some work.
