| - How have I NOT reviewed Harris Grill yet!?
I am embarrassed to admit how many times I have been here. Actually, I probably couldn't even figure it out if I tried.
This is a top happy hour spot amongst my friends. You just can't beat the $3 frozen cosmo deal. I can't say I'm usually a fan of bright pink slushy drinks, but a post-work frozen cosmo (or three) on the patio on a warm day? Yes, please.
That being said, we come here a lot in the warmer months as there is always outdoor seating availability. The inside isn't bad either but you have to take advantage of the nice weather when you can!
As far as food, Harris has a selection of 1/2 price apps during happy hour--a good option to soak up some of those cosmos. I've had a number of entree items as well, my favorite being the "Imagine the Rastabilities" (spicy Jamaican jerk pulled chicken mac and cheese). I'm also a fan of the jerk-style tacos and the (oh so classic) Pittsburgh salad. I can't think of anything from here that I haven't enjoyed.
Service isn't terrible, but not the best. We've had mixed experiences. Some of the waiters and waitresses are extremely attentive and friendly, and others not so much. One time it took nearly an hour to get our checks. We actually had to send a member of our party into the restaurant to find someone who could print the checks for us. Right before we left, a manager was coming around to check on tables, and we expressed our frustration to her. She was wonderful about the situation and gave us vouchers for a free entree on our next visit. As a frequent visitor, I really appreciated that she was receptive to our concerns and didn't try to make excuses. I very rarely complain but there was no reason for this kind of hold-up.
Overall, one of the best Shadyside happy hour spots. I'm already looking forward to spring so that I can sip some cosmos and unwind outside!
