| - OH ANGELO!...... You sexy beast of a man. He's tall, dark and handsome.
Wait... We're supposed to talk about the food, right?..... Haha, my bad.
Anyway, you should come to this gem of a restaurant located inside of Tivoli Village. I guess it was restaurant week, I had no clue what that even was until Tien N. informed me. DOH!
It was so great of Christina W. to plan this fun outing! I got to see some familiar faces, as well as meet few new ones. Oh Yelp, you bring such awesome people into my life :)
I have tried the pork belly here, and it's not as good as at Gordon Ramsay, but it's damn close. So tender, so decedent.
The RW choices I made was the Tomato Soup to start with. Such a great choice! It was light, flavorful, with a swirl of something extra inside it. I don't know what is was, but it made the soup taste even better somehow. I got to nibble on Vanessa N.'s Watermelon and Goat Cheese salad too. I don't know if you guys knew this, but goat cheese on watermelon is the best!! YUM.
I had the Monkfish with dill after. TOO MUCH DILL!!! It was kinda crazy how much garnish they put on top of it. But honestly, if you have fingers then you can just pick it off, so it really was not a big deal for me. The fish was firm, yet still light in it's texture. I had never had monkfish before, and I love the texture of the fish. It had some meat to it, not flaky at all.
For dessert, I had the Strawberry Sake Shortcake. The black pepper whipped cream was to DIE for. Really great touch. I didn't really taste much sake in the ice cream, but I'm a drinker, so I really like to taste the booze in something if it's supposed to have it in there. That's just me, though.
Kevin P. let me try some of his Miso Ice Cream with Chips. I really thought this was a clever and fun dessert concept. I loved using the salted potato chip to scoop up the ice cream, and the combination of the two flavors worked well together. The chips were a bit on the salty side, as Regina P. had pointed out, but I like salt so I was alright. But I could see how it might overwhelm some folks who don't like heavily salted food.
A very fun time! Service is always second to none here. The servers are great, and they put up with our drunk as*ses all the time and never complain! We also got to meet Angelo himself, and he complimented my name and my hair.... Very sweet man :)
