I have always caught a glimpse (particularly the word "Danish") of this bakery everytime I was on the 25 bus heading down towards Pape Station but as is the circumstance for people like me who live North past Eglinton, I could never find the right time to check it out.
So yesterday while taking a long stroll down Pape avenue, I caught sight of this place and decided since I was in area why not go take a look.
Oh jolly! There are so much for the eyes to savor inside. The area by the window was just laid out with rows of dainty and very tempting looking tarts, mini cakes, chocolaty delicacies and pasteries, while more cakes and baked goods kept luring out at me through glass displays on the counters. All the gleaming pastries by the window were enough for to motivate you to have a high tea party right at that moment. And this place has its own selection of small meat pies which I definitely want to get next time I'm in the area.
I had to keep myself from wanting to buy a big box full of a various treats because I still want to explore parts of Pape. But feeling my stomach start to reaction to the allure of the edible gems from display, got Ham and Cheese Quiche and a Chocolate Cream Puff.
The quiche which would have tasted so much better if I had been able to heat it first had a good layer of ham at the base with a nice cheese and egg covering. And saved the cream puff for breakfast. After being kept in the fridge overnight, every bite of it was enjoyable with a hefty fluffy amount of cream giving way to a custard-like like center. The entire puff only fell apart in my mouth. It was a nice treat to pair with my morning cup of coffee.
This place is what a neighbourhood bakery should be like and I will be returning customer to try out more of the its offerings.
