| - Pros:
1) Some good food. No limit on how many times you can go back and get a small plate of that food.
Cons:
1) Very difficult to eat. The couches, which are limited for seating, and tables, which are also limited for seating, meaning that many people will have to stand up as they cannot find a seat, cause you to have a difficult time when eating some of the food while holding a cup in your hand that is your wine cup. There were whole porkchops that need to be sliced with a fork and knife with nowhere to sit. There were open spaces where seats/tables would have been smart and they were completely empty. Overall, just very difficult holding a plastic cup with no stem for the wine while holding a plate in the other hand... Not very realistic.
2) poorly organized: we chose to go VIP at 8 PM, as the event starts at 9 PM. There are quite a few people that go with the VIP, but it is still better than 9 PM when it is packed. So, we are in this area that is usually, I think a parking lot, and we got there at 8 PM and we are ready to leave at 9 PM. We were a little disappointed due to how limited it was and how difficult it was to eat anything standing up. All of a sudden, as we are getting ready to go toward the exit, not even 100 feet from the exit, when we look to our right, there is a whole other section that we need to go into, practically hidden away because of how it's positioned and much larger than where we were. Music blaring causes you not to hear that there are a lot of people over there. There are no signs directing you to that section, as it is a part of the event. By the time we got to it, it was packed and you could barely move and there were no seats anywhere.
3) expensive for what you get: very expensive and we got our tickets on Groupon, which made it cheaper, and those were still expensive. Whether you go VIP or general, either is too expensive for what you get. There were booths there for fitness or knives for cooking or for putting in organic plant contraction in your house... There were empty booths where nobody was there. We went on a Saturday night and were told that Friday night was busier with more venues there but it was the same price.
4) I love wine and I know wine. The wine selections were deplorable. It was just bad quality at every station that I went to. The best part of the offers for drinking were the Don Julio tequila station that offered a bag with a lighted ice cube filled with a mixed drink of tequila that was delicious with a string to wrap the bag you drink out of around your neck like a long necklace. Smart! The other best part of the drink stations was the water station.
So, we came, we saw, we tried to eat and drink for the third year in a row, and each year is the same thing with very little convenience to the customer and no improvements. Therefore, we will not be getting tickets next year and choosing another event. I did not walk away remembering any of the chefs because I was not impressed with anything that the chefs offered. I did walk away remembering Tao and Lavo as they are two of my favorite restaurants and they had wonderful food available which one could actually eat easily even if you were standing up and holding a glass of wine. I will also remember Lucille's barbecue because they had the most amazing Porkchop and we ended up having to wait and get two seats in order to eat it as we could not eat it standing up. Way more cons than pros and just not worth it.
