| - Funny, Jeff Orenstein sent me an email asking me to review him and their BMW dealership. He must have a short memory....
Everything will be just fine until there is actually a problem. Nothing like being called a liar by the salesman (Jeff Orenstein)! Apparently, they (the dealership) or the previous owner of my "certified" BMW replaced the windshield with a non BMW windshield and broke the rain sensor. At first, my wife thought she didn't understand the way the rain sensor worked, so we didn't think too much about it. Six weeks after purchasing the 528 we moved from sunny Arizona to the rainy southeast and the rarely used rain sensor became an issue. I purchased the extended maintenance agreement so thinking this shouldn't be a problem, but the dealer where we moved to said the rain sensor wasn't covered. I called Jeff Orenstein (the salesman) and he replied with the specific dates it had rained in Phoenix and said I must have had the windshield replaced after the purchase and they wouldn't warranty the sensor! The sad part of this whole debacle is I sold Acura's in the late 80's, so I have a soft spot for car salesman and intentionally let him make a really nice commision on the sale.
So buyer beware of this dealer, especially if you are purchasing a "certified" used BMW.
On the plus side, BMW of North America covered the part under their Executive Customer Care, Customer Relations and Service division, so if you also have issues with this dealer as other reviewers have you can escalate your concerns to Customer Relations and Service (customerrelations@bmwusa.com or 1-800-831-1117). Be patient as you can also expect the dealership to be very difficult in regards to completing the process, even after BMW or North America agrees to cover the cost. If it wasn't for the corporate division taking care of this issue I would give Jeff Orenstein and Chapman BMW a ZERO rating if it was available.
