| - I've needed to find a groomer for my Maine Coon since I moved to Vegas this winter. I've seen so many mixed reviews on so many places, I decided to just give some a call and see who made the best impression.
Bow Wow Meow won. I explained that my BIG boy (he's 24+ pounds) was matted, hairy, and just a mess. I didn't want to shave him, but the person I spoke with suggested a lion cut to clean him up and get rid of his mats. (Google Main Coon Lion Cut for some giggles.) She also said two things that really impressed me:
1. They only do cats M-F because Saturday's are too noisy/crazy and the kitties don't do well with the stress. I felt like while this may be an inconvenience to some humans, I loved that they cared enough about the cat's well-being.
2. They don't give a pick up time because if it takes all day to groom a kitty to keep his stress level low, it takes all day.
I dropped him off this morning and the person I spoke with on the phone immediately recognized me and clarified what I wanted, even pulling him out to show me where the cut would end, etc. They put him in a large kennel, giving him much more space than my carrier does.
When they called to tell me he was ready, I asked if he was good. The response, "He was a doll!" That's exactly what you want to hear!
He's home now and SOOO happy. He's cool, his skin isn't itchy or pulling from having matted fur, he smells good, and every time I reach over to scratch him, he leans back and gives me a big kitty grin.
The ONLY reason it's four stars instead of five may just be a Vegas thing. I got him groomed in WA, which is where I lived before this and it cost $40. Today was $75, without the shaving it probably would have been $65. It was worth it today, but that's a lot of cash. I've found that most reputable groomers in the area, however, seem to be $60-80+.
I'm totally satisfied with the service, though, and my big boy will be going back, probably for a bath and clean up after his hair starts growing back later in the year. Thanks, Bow Wow Meow for a great job!
