| - I had read about this restaurant on Roadfood.com. I told my brother about it and he loved it. When I was down in Phoenix last week, this was the first stop from the airport. We got there about 6:00 and the line wasn't too long. (It was still inside the restaurant).
As you wait in line, you get a chance to study the menu. There really aren't that many items to choose from. More surprising, when you get to the counter, there are the sides you had been reading about. They don't really match the description on the menu.
I ordered the sampler plate and knew I had made a mistake right away. Way too much food for me. Included ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. I liked the pulled pork. Choices of mild and spicy BBQ sauce are available on the side. We had the mashed potatoes, sweet corn, mixed beans (my favorite) and cole slaw for our sides. Although my order came with bread, we opted for a side of corn bread. A real nice extra, the bread was slightly sweet with a nice consistency. Worth the extra money.
We ate outside on picnic benches. Large lot with a few trees that the kids loved to climb. Very nice family atmosphere. Worth a trip.
