| - With three children in college, we rent many of our textbooks. We typically go through Amazon because they have the lowest prices. This past semester I tried Barnes and Noble for one book. NEVER AGAIN!!! Amazon would send me multiple emails leading up to the due date of the book reminding me that it was due. Barnes and Noble sent NOTHING. My son's final exam was on December 10, and on December 12 I received an email from B&N telling me they were charging me $32.86 for an additional 15 days on my rental and that the book had been due back on December 10th. We called and after being hung up on multiple times, waiting on hold forever, and speaking to at least six different people, they refused to do anything and said it was our fault for not returning the book on time. Yes, it was our fault, but a little advance notice would have been nice. I typically return any rentals when the kids come home for winter break.
A huge waste of time and money, but at least I learned the lesson to never use B&N again. Now, I will not only not use them for rentals, but will never purchase anything from them either.
With as much competition as they have from online sites, they should really work on their customer service! Bye bye Barnes and Noble.
