  • Please please don't take your pets here. I fully agree that the staff is nice and the office is nice, but their level of care is subpar. Their complete miss on our Rhodesian Ridgeback, not only cost him his life, the payment for the visit there, but another $2k because he was intubated at an emergency clinic within 24 hours of his visit to Arizona Animal Wellness and died within 48 hours. Our dog was given tests at Arizona Animal Wellness on a Saturday for vomiting, listlessness, eye dryness and loss of appetite. He was sent home with eye drops. Sunday morning he was vomiting again and was taken to an emergency clinic where he was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia +pulse defects and an enlarged spleen with tumors. He was put in the ICU at the emergency clinic and died Monday morning when his heart stopped. Obviously our Ridgeback may have been beyond help on Saturday, but the fact that Arizona Animal Wellness had no idea what was going on should scare every owner who has a pet under their care. To add to their complete miss, our dog was in a month earlier for a teeth cleaning and while being assessed for sedation nothing showed from their testing that the dog was on death's door. I find it hard to believe the issues that led to his passing all occurred in such a compressed timeline. I researched any violations filed for Doctors within their practice and they had a malpractice judgement against them for gross misconduct in caring for a Rhodesian Ridgeback that died under their care because Dr. Heetland and Dr. Olson failed to check in on the patient for an extended period of time. You can see the complaint and judgement here http://archivevetboard.az.gov/UserFiles/Order05055.pdf. Do you trust a practice that would employ these two Docs with your pet? I talked to a manager and asked for a refund for our visit on Saturday as well as reimbursement for our bills on Sunday at the emergency clinic and Arizona Animal Wellness refused. I will be filing a complaint with the Arizona Veterinary Board which I'm sure will yield minimal results, but I just hope that owners understand that Arizona Animal Wellness Center is about their bottom line and accountablility is non existent in the company culture. Ask yourself, is only couple of cases of negligent care worth the risk to your pet's life? Your pet may be the next one Arizona Animal Wellness Center misses.
