Wow. It started last summer when I went in for a wash. I paid for the VIP wash which includes among other things armouralling the tires and interior. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed that hadn't been done. OK, no big deal, stuff happens. So I drive back and let them know. The managers excuse was a "new guy". Although they did do the work I paid for they didn't offer even a free basic wash for the inconvenience, not even a "sorry". Just a we'll take care of it.
OK, so few months later I decide to have the interior and exterior detailed. About $150 worth of work. They called about 2:00 and said it was already to go. When I got there I could immediately tell that something was wrong. The outside didn't look like it had even been touched and as far as I could tell, the only thing that had been done on the inside was the carpets. When I pointed this out, again they used the "new guy" excuse (same manager). This time they did apologize and offered to knock the price down to $80. $80 to shampoo the front carpet! I got them down to $40 but they wouldn't budge off of that price. They did say that next time I came in they'd do the whole thing inside & out for $80.
But it gets worse. I got home and noticed that the floor mats were missing, so again I drove back. Their response? "You didn't have any floor mats." As he is saying this we're standing in the work area and what do I see on the carts where they keep their supplies? My floor mats!
Skip forward to June of this year. I'm selling the truck and I want the engine cleaned. I explained the previous situations to the attendant and tell him that if he will clean the engine for $40 all will be forgiven. I picked up the truck a couple hours later opened the hood and everything looked great. Later that day I dropped something that rolled under the front of the truck. I got down on my hands & knees to retrieve it and glanced up at the underside of the motor to find it still covered with dirt and grime. Back to BJs I go. When I pointed this out to the manager he pointed out that the attendant had written "top engine" on the work order. I assumed this meant I was getting the best engine clean package they offered, but no - it means they only clean the top of the engine.
These guys have a system all set up to take advantage of you. Deceptive practices, work they bill you for that doesn't get done and just general incompetence. And that's just in the carwash! I can only imagine what goes on in the repair area. This is one place where the phrase "buyer beware" can't be stressed more strongly.
