The good: Cheryl at the front desk was awesome and made sure we had the perfect room by the pool for our girl's trip. Samantha at the bar was fantastic making sure our drinks were perfect and even got us pizza after the kitchen was "technically" closed. Kenny at the pool waited on us hand and foot, made sure we wer comfortable, brought us one of his specialty drinks to try and made our day super fun - he was absolutely stellar!!
The bad: the rest of the staff was inattentive, slow and spent most of their time with each other instead of the guests. Our first day we waited by the pool for and hour without a word from anyone while 5 servers talked to each other at the bar. The property is pretty - pool is fun. Could use some updating - rooms are a bit shabby.
The ugly: weekend we were there you had a pool FULL with either Kenny Chesney concert goers or families with small kids. They hired a keyboard player/singer to entertain by the pool. The music was old people lounge songs and the singer sounded like a strangled cat. Totally bummed out the entire pool. Lots of people complained and when I talked to the manager on duty, Cameron, he told me if we didn't like it we could leave the pool area and that he thought it could actually be louder. As a Platinum member for 15 years I was very put off by not only the experience but the manager's comments.
Sunday morning there were 5 families in line waiting for a breakfast table while the manager and staff ran around setting up for an event later in the day. Entire restaurant was empty but nobody could get a seat since the staff was too busy prepping for an afternoon event.
Needless to say we will not be staying at the Buttes again. Marriott needs to learn a lesson from their sister partner, The Ritz; guests come first. Thanks to Cheryl, Samantha and Kenny for being a bright spot!!
