| - I've been here a few times both for brunch and lunch and as much as I absolutely love the decor and ambience (which is all "School Subject Themed") the food has always been underwhelming and the service, somewhat subpar.
Most of the waiter's seem quite friendly and fairly attentive and some are incredibly well-versed on the beer menu and will go so-far as to suggest food pairings, which I think is pretty fun.
In this last visit, I received my check, paid with my Card and it was processed for over TWICE what I owed. Now, to be fair, this was an accident and the waiter was absolutely shocked at "how" this happened, since it appeared to be an anomaly, however, he took what (hopefully) would become the Voided Ticket, so I have to way to prove my card was charged twice (or mis-charged) on my end, if need be.
This round, I ordered the chicken burger and my brother had the lamb. Honestly, I prefer his over mine and I appreciate that quinoa is a substitute option over fries (which come with a spicy ketchup that is good, but not my taste-bud preference.) I definitely preferred his burger to mine, although I liked that my Chicken was, in fact, a ground chicken patty and not just a strip of chicken breast.
We did arrive during a Knight's Game, so it's possible that food service was a bit backed up, although only the front of the restaurant/bar was filled - there were still plenty of opens seats that lacked TV views. My brother and I opted to sit outside and it was a beautiful day, with clear skies and the misters provided an occasional dusting of coolness which was perfect and relaxing.
All-in-all, I just wish I liked the food a little more and I wish the brunch menu was more exciting, somehow. I want to LOVE Public School, but there's something about this place that just keeps falling short of my expectations.
