I've wanted to try this restaurant for years and just never made it until now. I'm not sure what I expected but I think it was greatness based on the pictures submitted by other reviewers and the eclectic exterior of the restaurant.
When we arrived we were kinda greeted by some guy and through a combination of body language, nonverbal cues, and common sense we arrived at a table. Our waiter was nice but very uninformed about the menu offerings and though we explained it was our first time here an needed a moment to review the menu, he proceeded to read almost the entirety of it to us. Ver. Batim.
We ordered the seafood dip with toast points as it was one of the specials and we both ordered the Cuban Chicken Roti one with the Jamaican Curry Sauce and the other with Indian Curry Sauce. The sides we selected were the Broccoli medley and some kind of Corn concoction with a fancy name.
The dip came out quickly but I was surprised that it was cold. I would've liked to have known that was how it's intended but it was decent for cold seafood dip. There was some long piece of white meat or something that could've been squid or???? The point is that when we asked what was in the dip before ordering he definitely didn't indicate something that should look like that.
The Roti was flavorful except both tasted exactly the same. When we inquired about this the waiter, after "going to inform the cooks about it," literally said "um the Jamaican Curry is Indian Curry with curry in it." IM SORRY WHAT???? The Broccoli, cabbage, and carrot situation was way overcooked as in almost brownish-grey and very peppery. The Corn was good.
Overall it was just "ok" and a strong maybe on returning but I just wasn't that impressed.
