  • AHHHH-MAAAZING. I totally feel justified in givin Yasu 5 stars, and judging by the reviews below me, many others agree as well. Located right next to PV Mall in a small strip of about 5 other stores, Yasu was a pleaser all around. Service was prompt and very friendly, even though they are only open for lunch until 2p (they reopen later for dinner at 5) they still seated us at 1:30. The interior is small, but PV trendy and unexpected. First off, their Iced Green Tea tastes freshly brewed, rather than that fake green tea taste I often encounter (refills on their hot tea, too!). We then tried 3 sushi rolls, including the absolute must have Power roll, a mix of avocadoes, tuna, and crab. We also had a tuna handroll and the Sun roll - non-baked scallops covered in sriracha sauce, which both were simple, but quite tasty. All ingredients were extremely fresh which made em extra yum. Next, my sis had the Black Cod in a miso glaze. It was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was not lacking nor overpowering. This was one of the a la carte items, but if you are the type who needs a vegetable or rice, their menu is affordable so it's not a big deal. (Our bill was about $60 for 3 drinks, 3 sushis, a calamari app, and 2 meals). I had the Cold Duck Udon Noodles...sooooo yummy. I'm not used to eating udon cold, but it was a great change. Topped with mushrooms, nori, and a delicious sauce, I would recommend. Their menu is pretty extensive for being such a small find, so I certainly want to try more and off their sumibiyaki menu. They also serve lunch specials that include a small miso soup and other sides. Can't believe it took me this long to try Yasu! It will definitely become a new fave. Check out the New Times rave review (big time food critic of AZ Repub, Howard Seftel is also a huge fan of Yasu and why I wanted to first check it out) http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2007-05-17/dining/raw-emotion/
