  • Best advice - eat before you come here. We waited over an hour for our food on a night that was not at all busy. Our waitress disappeared after taking our order, and we never saw her again. After a while, another waitress asked us if we'd ordered, and I said that we had, a long time ago. She checked and said it would be out soon, but didn't apologize for the long wait. We both got bangers & mash, which apparently come pre-made, so we were perplexed as to why we had to wait so long for it. And because they come pre-made, it is not possible to just get the bangers and mash separately (without the glutinous pasty shell). So I had to dig the contents out, finding that there was precious little contents compared to the pasty. What was there was good, complemented by the red wine gravy that other reviewers have raved about. The salad and chips (steak fries) were very tasty, and the lemonade was very lemony. The ambiance was nice, with the pub lit by candles dripping over wine bottles, and new age cello music seeping out of the house speakers. Will I come back? Perhaps, if I'm not that hungry and can wait an hour for the food to arrive, and if I want to make a meal out of gluten-free side dishes. I came here with a craving for bangers & mash, and will keep looking. There *have* to be good ones on this side of the pond.
